Title: On covert movement. Partially fronted wh vs. wh-in-situ

Abstract: In this paper, we provide evidence that covert movement can be partial terminal movement, and it can be non-successive cyclic. We entertain the possibility that this connects with Fox and Pesetsky’s (2005) proposal in which cyclicity is a result of PF interface conditions on linearization (i.e., Order preservation). In particular, covert movement is constrained by a Scope Preservation Principle.
